Rangers news round-up: Brighton transfer agreement close as Igamane exit nears

Rangers are fast running out of time to upgrade their squad ahead of their 2025-26 campaign officially kicking off.

Russell Martin’s side takes on Panathinaikos in a two-legged Champions League qualifier next month, with the first leg at Ibrox scheduled for 22 July.

That leaves the Gers with just three weeks to get their house in order, and the transfer speculation has certainly ramped up.

Rangers to ‘finalise terms’ for new signing as Jamie Vardy deal lined up

Rangers are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy since he announced his decision to leave the King Power Stadium.

The Mail on Sunday (29 June, page 89) reports that Rangers remain keen on signing Vardy while they work on a deal to sign his former Leicester teammate Conor Coady at the same time.

Coady’s time at Leicester has not gone to plan, and he looks set to leave in the coming weeks following the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.

A deal for Coady certainly seems to be more advanced than one for Vardy at this stage.

Rangers and Leeds in talks already as 49ers get Ibrox deal done

Rangers and Leeds United are expected to work in unison thanks to the 49ers Enterprises connection.

Max Aarons has arrived at Ibrox this summer, and the 25-year-old previously worked with Leeds boss Daniel Farke at Norwich City.

The Herald reports (29 June, page 68) that Farke wanted Aarons at Elland Road previously, but the deal was not concluded.

However, Paraag Marathe made sure the deal was finalized at Ibrox, with open talks said to be taking place between Rangers and Leeds over possible transfers.

It is not just the first-team squad Rangers need to work on strengthening this summer.

And it is a good sign that the Gers have one eye on the future, with Rangers Review (29 June) reporting that Brighton youngster Zebedee Lawson is set for a move to Ibrox.

The right-sided attacker will reportedly join the Gers youngsters at Auchenhowie for the upcoming season.

The 16-year-old will be joining the Under-19s side, who regularly train alongside the senior team.

Ibrox News understands that Lille has won the race to sign Igamane this summer, a year after he moved to Glasgow.

Sources tell Ibrox News that the 22-year-old has struck a double agreement with Lille over his transfer.

Not only has he agreed on the wages post his move, but he has also given them his verbal commitment to join them, meaning all that now remains is official confirmation.
