Rangers to sign another two players in the coming days after Jefte transfer confirmation

Rangers are hoping to complete another two new transfers before the end of May after the arrival of Jefte, according to The Scotsman.

The Bears sealed their first transfer of the summer window as the 20-year-old signed from Fluminense, and that has seen the club step up their pursuits of Jose Cordoba and Liam Kelly.

Panama centre-back Cordoba has been a long-term target for the Gers and reportedly attended their 4-1 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox earlier this month as Philippe Clement looks to complete the signing.

Motherwell have also confirmed that goalkeeper Kelly will be leaving Fir Park this summer, and it is stated that Clement’s side are hoping to finalise deals for both players in the next six days.

Rangers transfers imminent at Ibrox

It’s all change at Ibrox this summer, and the signing of Jefte before their current season has even ended shows that Rangers and Clement mean business in the transfer window.

Cordoba has emerged as the Belgian’s number-one defensive target, and with players like Conor Goldson and Leon Balogun not getting any younger, he could have a transformative effect at the back next season.

Liam Kelly began his career at Rangers, and now the goalkeeper is on the brink of a return to Ibrox.

Kelly will come in as a back-up goalkeeper to undisputed first-choice Jack Butland, but if the former England stopper departs for a large fee this summer, he will be thrust into the limelight, particularly if number two Robby McCrorie is also headed for the exit door.

Jefte is a like-for-like replacement for Borna Barisic, Cordoba could do likewise for Goldson and Balogun in central defence, and the incoming arrivals of that duo plus Kelly, before the transfer window even officially opens, shows that it’s out with the old and in with the new at Rangers this summer.
