Rangers transfer interest in Oussama Targhalline forces Le Havre to take action

Le Havre are taking measures to fend off interest from Rangers in midfielder Oussama Targhalline, according to Josue Casse.

The Foot Mercato journalist shared on his X page [3 July] that the French outfit are now ramping up discussions with their man to extend his current contract, which expires in 2025.

Casse then refers to Rangers as the primary club interested in 22-year-old Targhalline, but states there has yet to be an offer from any club to Le Havre so far this summer.

The post reads: “Exclusive, [Foot Mercato]. Le Havre talks with Oussama Targhalline. Ongoing discussions for the extension of the Le Havre midfielder.

“Despite the interests expressed [from Rangers], the club has received, to date, no offer.”

Rangers have been expectedly and crucially busy in the transfer market so far, with Philippe Clement and his recruitment staff working extensively to shuffle the pack at Ibrox.

Four new faces have so far entered the building, alongside the permanent arrivals of Mohammed Diomande and Oscar Cortes.

Targhalline is a midfield target who lifted the Ligue 2 title in 2022-23 with Le Havre, joining halfway through that campaign from Marseille.

A Moroccan youth international, the talent adds to a list of midfield targets which also includes Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga, who is also wanted by Sevilla.

The Gers appeared to be in the frame to bring experienced Norwich City man Kenny McLean back north of the border, although this deal is reported to have stalled.

With Hamza Igamane set to be announced imminently, Rangers’ Moroccan contingent may yet grow should progress be made in their Targhalline pursuit.
