Rapid was one step away from hijacking Louis Munteanu’s transfer to CFR Cluj: “Țucu wanted to go to Fiorentina to bring him”

Louis Munteanu was a very coveted player last summer in the SuperLiga, FCSB, CFR Cluj and Rapid being the teams that showed their interest in him.

Marius Șumudică (53 years old), the coach of Rapid, revealed that the people from Giulești were very close to diverting the attacker Louis Munteanu (22 years old) from the way to CFR Cluj.

The young attacker chose CFR Cluj as his final destination, the amount paid by financier Ioan Varga being far above the Romanian football average.

Marius Șumudică: “It lends itself 100% to the style of Rapid”

In the negotiations for Genoa midfielder Filippo Melegoni, some of which ended in an unhappy ending for the fans of the team near the Grant Bridge, the majority shareholder Dan Șucu intended to move to Florence, in order to convince the Romanian footballer to sign as well, according to to Marius Șumudică .

“I feel sorry for Louis, we were one step away from bringing him. Mr. Șucu, when he took the plane to discuss the Italian Melegoni, he also wanted to go to Fiorentina to bring him. He chose to go to CFR. I saw him at the end, he was upset that he wasn’t getting into combinations, he wasn’t getting the ball, but I can’t comment on what he’s doing there. It lent itself 100% to the style of the Rapid, I think it was a better decision for him.

But to pay 2.2 million euros in the domestic championship for a player…it seems a bit peppery to me, not that Louis is not worth the money. Anyway, Mr. Varga said that he has offers of 7-8 million euros for him” , Marius Șumudică told Fanatik .
