Sheffield United sale completed today – Businessman flies out to announce takeover, announcement incoming

COH Sports completed their purchase of Sheffield United today for $135m, with Selahattin Baki travelling to Riyadh this morning to announce the deal.

That’s according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, who reports the Turkish businessman flew out this morning ahead of an official announcement.

COH Sports have been closing in on a takeover at Sheffield United for several months, with reports in England over the last week indicating that negotiations with current owner Abdullah bin Mosaad Al Saud were reaching a positive conclusion.

Sabuncuoğlu now reports that the Championship side have been sold, with COH Sports purchasing them from the Saudi Arabian prince for $135m.

According to his information Selahattin Baki, who was appointed as Sheffield United’s international football co-ordinator in November 2014, travelled to Riyadh this morning to announce the deal.

He adds than an official announcement will be made shortly but the takeover has now been completed despite fears Abdullah bin Mosaad Al Saud may delay any exit as he could earn more from a potential return to the Premier League.

Sheffield United currently lead the Championship by three points over Leeds United and four ahead of Burnley in third place after 21 games of the season.
