Sheffield Wednesday fans will fear the worst as Chansiri’s latest failure could create nightmare scenario

Several money-related issues have arisen during his time owning the Owls, and in March, Chansiri failed to pay the Wednesday players and staff.

After citing cash flow issues as the reason, the squad was eventually paid in April by the 56-year-old, though supporters were still left concerned by the state of the club.

Now, in the latest setback for the Championship side, there has been another delay in paying players this month, and it could have huge ramifications on their future.

Sheffield Wednesday could face a transfer ban after players went unpaid

According to Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Chansiri’s cash failed to show up on the scheduled date, and insiders have claimed that the holdup is over a bank transfer, but that may not be enough to avoid a pending crisis.

Worryingly, Nixon believes the Owls could be hit with a transfer ban if the money is further delayed. There was also no explanation in advance about this latest issue, and that is hugely concerning for the fan fanbase.

With Wednesday offering some of the Championship’s most expensive tickets and manager Danny Rohl also set to leave Hillsborough, it’s all doom and gloom in South Yorkshire, with news of the players going unpaid adding to their issues.

There were talks of Sheffield Wednesday being taken over by the Walton family, though nothing has come to fruition just yet, while Chansiri has reportedly rejected two bids from an American consortium.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian businessman Turki Alalshikh is more interested in Southampton and Millwall, despite claims he wanted to buy the Yorkshire club.

With Wednesday refusing to sack Rohl, even though he wants to leave the club, there’s huge uncertainty surrounding their managerial situation.

Many clubs are refusing to pay Rohl’s £5 million release clause, and that is proving to be a stumbling block in his exit from the club.

However, their biggest concern will now be avoiding a transfer ban, as money being further delayed could result in no players arriving at Hillsborough.

Considering other clubs will be strengthening and Wednesday’s players will be fed up, they could drop like a stone down the Championship table next season.

Their only hope is Chansiri selling up, but that looks increasingly unlikely, with a chaotic summer on the horizon.
