Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is one of the wealthiest people in his home of Thailand. But how does he compare to his fellow Championship owners?

Dejphon Chansiri is certainly one of the more controversial chairmen of the Championship, and certainly one of the more vocal.

Last season saw the Thai businessman, whose family made their fortune in the seafood industry, become vocal towards the Sheffield Wednesday fans through a string of club statements.

Chansiri asked the Sheffield Wednesday fans to pay a £2million HMRC bill which he soon cleared. That followed Chansiri’s feud with former Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore among other events.

Tension between Owls fans and Chansiri, which peaked last season with the formation of The 1867 Group, have really died down, after Chansiri facilitated what was a busy and productive summer transfer window.

Now, it’s reported that Chansiri is looking for new investment at Sheffield Wednesday. But does that mean he’s struggling for finance? Or is he simply looking for more at Hillsborough?

What is Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri’s net worth

As ever with these questions, there’s a pinch of salt needed, especially with Chansiri’s net worth largely being his family’s net worth too.

In 2020, the Chansiri’s family net worth stood at £450million, placing them in the top 50 of Thailand’s rich list.

However, there’s not been an estimated report on the Chansiri’s’ net worth since.

But the Thai Union Group, which is the company controlled by the Chansiri family and which gives the family their enormous wealth, was reported in October 2024 of having a market cap of $1.89billion (£1.46billion).

That makes the Thai Union Group the world’s 4400th most valuable company according to market cap, per Companies Market Cap.

Per Investopedia: “Market capitalization, or ‘market cap’, represents the total dollar market value of a company’s outstanding shares of stock.”
