Sir Kenny Dalglish shares ‘impressive’ Ibrox treble verdict in Philippe Clement admission

Rangers have the talent in their squad under the management of Philippe Clement to win an “impressive” domestic treble this season, according to Kenny Dalglish.

The Light Blues have already won the Viaplay Cup this term under the Belgian’s management and also currently sit top of the Scottish Premiership table, two points clear of second-placed Celtic after 29 matches.

Clement’s side can book their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals with a win against Hibernian on Sunday (10 March).

While a treble will remain incredibly difficult, Dalglish admits it is far from “impossible”.

Writing for The Sunday Post (10 March, back page of pull-out) he said: “Rangers produced another impressive result in Europe with their 2-2 draw in Benfica.

It sets them up nicely to finish the job at Ibrox on Thursday evening to book a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

“It will not be easy as, despite going through a tough period, the Portuguese are still a very capable side.

But there is a resilience in Philippe Clement’s team and he is getting players to perform at a level they weren’t showing prior to his arrival.

“If Rangers win this evening – and I wouldn’t take that victory for granted against a resurgent Hibs side – then there will be plenty of talk of a treble.

Rangers are the only side who can complete a clean sweep of domestic trophies.

“It will be far from easy for them to do it, but it is not impossible.

You won’t hear any Rangers player talking about a treble at the moment and that is fair enough. But they have the talent in the squad to do really well between now and the end of the season.”

Will Philippe Clement beat Celtic to the title and a treble this season?

The turnaround at Ibrox under the management of Clement has been nothing short of breathtaking as the Belgian has transformed the Gers from a side that looked lost under Michael Beale to genuine title challengers.

Rangers are in the driving seat for the Scottish Premiership at this moment in time.

While there is still plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the season, they are in an excellent position to beat the Hoops.

Kenny Dalglish has been impressed by Rangers and Philippe Clement.

Should Clement’s side beat Hibs at Easter Road on Sunday, they will be only two games away from lifting their second piece of silverware under the Belgian.

As Dalglish says, it won’t be easy, but it is certainly possible.

Hopefully, Rangers will continue to impress across all competitions and make the impossible possible with a historic season.

However, Clement won’t throw away his aspirations in Europe for domestic success as he has made it clear that he wants to go far in the Europa League this season.
