SOURCES: WOLVES AGREE STRIKER EXIT AS GARY O’NEIL TARGETS NEW ATTACKING TRANSFER

Wolves sources confirm to HITC Football that they have now agreed a loan transfer with Eintracht Frankfurt for Sasa Kalajdzic with Gary O’Neil targeting a new striker.

The 26-year-old had attracted interest from a number of clubs in Germany and from beyond this month.

But Kalajdzic identified Eintracht Frankfurt as his preferred landing spot and will spend the rest of this season there on loan. It also marks a return to the Bundesliga for him.

Molineux chiefs allowed Kalajdzic to return to Germany with Wolves looking to make room to bring in another forward this month.

Coach O’Neil is keen for the Old Gold to strengthen their frontline in the winter market and the Austrian has also struggled for form so far this season.

Kalajdzic has only scored two goals in his 11 Premier League appearances so far this season.

He has further failed to lay on a single assist and has only featured for a total of 157 minutes since O’Neil arrived at Molineux. Kalajdzic has been available for all 20 of their matches, too.

He will even make a final appearance for the Old Gold this season when O’Neil’s squad visits Brentford in the FA Cup.

HITC Football understands that Kalajdzic will play when Wolves face the Bees this Friday night before they finalise Kalajdzic’s loan transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Wolves welcomed Kalajdzic back from the ACL injury he sustained on the striker’s debut this season.

His first year in the Black Country was a write-off after taking the blow 45 minutes into his Old Gold career. The attacker quit VfB Stuttgart in August 2022 for an initial £15.5m.

Bruno Lage signed Kalajdzic whilst the head coach of Wolves in a move that featured £6m in hard-to-achieve add-ons. Stuttgart also took

a 10% sell-on clause after he scored six goals in 15 Bundesliga games during an injury-hit 2021/22 season with a long-term shoulder issue.

Kalajdzic will now look to recapture the form the 6 ft 6 target man showed in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt.

He also scored 16 goals and assisted a further six over 33 fixtures in the 2020/21 Bundesliga term.

But the Wien native struggled to replicate that form with Wolves.

O’Neil will now look to bring in another forward to replace Kalajdzic once Wolves finalise his loan transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt.

His two goals were just 6.6% of the 30 that the Old Gold have scored in the Premier League this term. Hwang Hee-Chan has scored 10 in 20 games.
