A Saints legend has called on the fans to create an atmosphere like “never seen before” as Southampton prepare to face West Brom this Friday.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, Franny Benali called on fans to “create an atmosphere at St Mary’s on Friday like we’ve never seen before”.

It follows Saints’ 0-0 draw in their play-off semi-final clash at The Hawthorns on Sunday.

The former player’s words have been echoed by supporters on social media, calling for all fans to get behind the team.

Danielle May (@itsdaniellemay) wrote on X: “Everybody down to St. Mary’s on Friday for 6pm to see the players arrive.

“Club want a sea of red, flares, flags, the lot. The stadium needs to be rocking and atmosphere electric.

“Let’s get behind the team and get this over the line. UTS”

Another fan, @SFCsumma wrote: “Club want everyone down the ground early as possible Friday to get behind the lads more details to come tomorrow but the coach will be taking the players to the stadium for around just after 6ish.

“Will be electric no doubt with a good crowd down to welcome them.”

The winner of Friday’s semi-final will go on to face either Leeds United or Norwich City at Wembley.
