Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been hailed for his transfer work at the club since January of this year.
The Northern Irishman has done some stellar work getting the likes of Nicolas Kuhn, Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan to Celtic in the summer.
Rodgers constantly pressed the need for adding quality to his ranks for much of last season and, it seems, that his consistent message to the board was listened to after Celtic spent north of £30m in the transfer window.
However, with players who were recruited last summer clearly not making the grade at Celtic, one of Rodgers’ signings from last summer has been brutally told he is not wanted after being linked to a Polish club earlier this season.
Celtic defender Maik Nawrocki brutally told he is not wanted
Maik Nawrocki cost Celtic over £4m last summer as the club looked to replace Carl Starfelt who left Parkhead for Celta Vigo.
The big Polish defender has struggled to make an impact since moving to Paradise from Legia Warsaw last summer and has been linked with a January move to Polish outfit, Slack Wroclaw.
Well, it seems that Nawrocki can forget about a homecoming after the club’s sporting director, Rafal Grodzicki, addressed links to the out-of-favour Celtic defender.
Grodzicki told the Daily Record, “I can assure you that we weren’t even interested in this player. We have many central defenders in the club and our priority for strengthening are in other positions.”
Maik Nawrocki’s painful Celtic record
Nawrocki has failed to make a single appearance for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership this season but has made a rare outing in the early rounds of the League Cup.
The 24-year-old defender got just five minutes of Celtic’s 5-2 win over Falkirk.
Overall, Nawrocki has made just 14 appearances in total since his big 2023 summer move and it looks like he could be a player who will be next to make a Celtic exit.
The fact the big Polish defender was shunned during a defensive injury crisis against Dundee United is a massive hint of where Brendan Rodgers sees Nawrocki in his Celtic plans.
