‘Stopped it in its tracks’ – West Brom block move for manager as club refuse to pay anything

Spanish newspaper Marca today reports the obstacles that UD Las Palmas are facing to sign a new manager, and West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberán had been one of the options on the table.

The big difficulty to land the 41-year-old is that his contract with the Baggies, which runs until 2027, includes a €2.5m release clause… according to the report.

Marca writes that even though West Brom had considered Corberán’s departure some weeks ago, they are now working to keep him, refusing to let him join any other club.

So even though Las Palmas ‘intensified’ the talks this week, they ended up finding a ‘wall’ and their attempt was ‘stopped in its tracks’.

It’s said West Brom have already started preparations for next season, and Corberán is ‘at the helm’ of their project.

This isn’t the first time someone shows up trying to sign him, as it’s said the Baggies already gave the same response when Leicester City came for the manager.

And since Las Palmas don’t want to pay anything to get a new manager, it seems there’s no chance they can get Corberán from West Brom.
