Swansea City are eyeing a move for Leyton Orient midfielder Ethan Galbraith, with the 23-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the season at Brisbane Road.
Galbraith has performed well for Leyton Orient since joining the club in 2023 from Manchester United, and the Northern Ireland international could be set to move to the Championship with Swansea this month.
Swansea City eyeing a move for Leyton Orient’s Ethan Galbraith
Galbraith, who made one senior appearance for Manchester United, has impressed at Brisbane Road this season, playing 31 games in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering one assist.
Swansea are keen to add a midfielder to their squad and have been linked to the likes of Luke Cundle and Adam Phillips in recent weeks, and Galbraith is the latest name to be linked with a move to SA1.
The Northern Ireland international is out of contract at Leyton Orient in the summer, meaning this could be the O’s last chance to secure a fee for him, and despite their position in the League One table, they could be forced to sell.
Richie Wellens’ side are just one point off the third tier play-off places, and he won’t want to lose a player of Galbraith’s quality this month, but money talks and cashing in could be a more sensible option than losing him for free in the summer.
Ethan Galbraith would be a smart signing for Swansea City
The 18 months or so Galbraith has spent at Leyton Orient following his Manchester United exit would have undoubtedly improved him as a player, and he looks ready to make the step-up to the Championship.
Swansea tend to target young players with potential that they can improve and sell for more money, as seen with the likes of Flynn Downes, Joel Piroe and Nathan Wood in recent seasons, and Galbraith fits that bill.
The Northern Irish international has shown his versatility at League One level and, with Swansea keen to add to their squad this month, his ability to play in both defence and attack means it’s easy to see why he’s on their radar.
After a dismal January, Swansea need reinforcements this month, and Galbraith appears to be someone who could come in and make a difference to Williams’ side.
