Three dream signings Gareth Bale could help bring to Plymouth Argyle include Tottenham gem

More and more major names have started working with EFL clubs in the last several years.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ success as Wrexham owners has seen the club secure three promotions in a row.

Tom Brady has invested in Birmingham City, who set an EFL points record in 2024/25 when they won League One.

More recently, Luka Modric is now involved with Swansea City, and his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate, Gareth Bale, is now linking up with Plymouth Argyle.

Plymouth are in talks for a takeover by a US private equity group, and Bale is part of the plan to complete the purchase.

Now, we have taken a look at three dream signings the Greens could make this summer.

Three dream signings Gareth Bale could help bring to Plymouth Argyle

Will Lankshear (loan)

While it’s probably unlikely Bale still has strong ties to Real Madrid, his relationship with Tottenham was much more positive.

In turn, he could, in theory, convince Spurs to start loaning some of their rising stars to Plymouth.

On that front, Will Lankshear would be a great option, especially after losing Ryan Hardie to Wrexham.

Lankshear spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship with West Brom.

Though it seems unlikely he’d now want to drop down to League One, Bale’s influence might help persuade him to do so.

Alex Gilbert (loan)

Another loan move, Alex Gilbert is proven at League One level after impressing with Charlton Athletic in the second half of 2024/25.

Nathan Jones’ side won promotion, and Gilbert played an important role while on loan from Middlesbrough.

Gilbert has returned to the Riverside Stadium, but he’s still low down the attacking midfielder pecking order, and unless Finn Azaz leaves this summer, he probably won’t get many starts for Boro.

Anfernee Dijksteel (free)

We shared previously that Middlesbrough ‘like’ Bali Mumba as they search for right-back reinforcements this summer.

It comes with Boro having released Anfernee Dijksteel last month when they confirmed their retained list.

The full-back showed moments of quality during his time at the Riverside and would excel in League One if he could be convinced to drop down a division.
