Winners are grinners’: Morale high in readiness for tough Storm battle

Following an impressive show of strength and determination against the Warriors in New Zealand on Anzac Day, the Titans are being fuelled by the confidence that comes with achieving their first win of the season.

After a month of nail-bitting football performances by the playing group, AJ Brimson is positive that there is still more to come.

“It was definitely a good win to be a part of with the occasion over in New Zealand, off a short turnaround and the way it finished with our goal line defence,” he said.

“Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come, but definitely a good first win.

“It’s important to start putting some wins on the board, but definitely a bit of relief within the group, but we have been building that confidence for a few weeks now.”

“I am just happy to be in around the footy, I was enjoying six for that little bit, and then now enjoying being back at one,” Brimson said.

“There is just a bit more freedom back there and I’m definitely enjoying it more.

“I was always optimistic, and I was doing my best to be the best centre I could be, but obviously excited to be back around the footy.

“When I got my chance, I was just so eager to put my hand up.”

Alongside his own individual efforts, the 106-gamer also praised David Fifita’s inspiring display of effort on the field in recent weeks, following his return to the field in Round 4 after recovering from a pec injury.

“He’s been awesome for us, and he is hard to handle on the line,” Brimson said.

“He has really been working on his effort plays and carrying for a lot of metres in the last couple weeks, putting his hand up when coming out of our own end, so he’ll be big for us again this weekend.”

Back at home this Saturday against a Melbourne Storm side who are seeing success in 2024 from the on-field leadership of halfback Jahrome Hughes, the Titans are excited to rise to the challenge.

“If he’s not the best, then he’s one of the best halves in the competition,” Brimson said.

“Their spine and entire team are good, so there’s a lot of players to watch but Jahrome is definitely one of them.

“I love versing the Storm, and I love playing at Cbus, so we can’t wait for Saturday.”
