Wolves one step away from securing double transfer swoop on deadline day as duo begin medicals

Wolves are one step away from securing their second and third signings of the January transfer window as two of their targets undergo their medicals.

It’s been a largely frustrating transfer window for Vitor Pereira, who has seen just Emmanuel Agbadou arrive as the only new signing at Wolves.

The Old Gold have also missed out on multiple targets, including Kevin Danso, who joined Tottenham after Ange Postecoglou hijacked a deal.

Pereira wanted three more signings after Agbadou and for a long time, his mission looked to have been aborted.

However, in typical Wolves fashion, they’ve left their business till the very last minute, with two transfer targets now one step away from joining the club.

Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga undergoing medicals at Wolves

It emerged late on Sunday night that Wolves had agreed a transfer for Marshall Munetsi, the midfielder who plays for Ligue 1 side Reims and Agbadou’s former club.

Munetsi is set to cost Wolves £16.6m, a fee that has been described as extremely high for the type of player he is, though the 28-year-old will add some energy and tenacity to the engine.

The Zimbabwe international isn’t the only player set to join the Premier League strugglers, with Wolves seeing a £10m bid accepted for centre-back Nasser Djiga.

Djiga, who currently plies his trade for Red Star Belgarde, was spotted on a flight to England earlier on deadline day, with the aforementioned duo set to undergo their medicals.

That is according to Sky Sports report Danyal Khan, who claims the two players have arrived in Paris before proceeding with the final steps.

Munetsi and Djiga profiled

Pereira has been looking for a centre-back to join Agbadou in defence and hopefully, a deal for Djiga will be completed without any late hiccups.

The 22-year-old has made almost 100 career appearances, including 56 for Red Star. He’s also been capped eight times by Burkina Faso and is known for his incredible physicality and ball-playing ability.

Munetsi, on the other hand, is much more experienced, having made 159 appearances for Stade Reims in Ligue 1 with 21 goals and 14 assists.

Still only 28, the midfielder has been capped 23 times by Zimbabwe and looks set to be a replacement for Mario Lemina, who has agreed a £2.5m transfer to Galatasaray.

Perhaps Munetsi and Djiga weren’t Pereira’s first-choice targets however, he’ll hope the duo can help drag the Wanderers to safety.
