Wolves’ stance on Matheus Cunha revealed as Man Utd plot 2025 swoop

Manchester United are set to make some attacking improvements in 2025 with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha emerging as an option.

Goals have proven hard to come by for Manchester United this season and this struggle continued into Ruben Amorim’s first game.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal in United’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town – and afterwards, there have been links with several forwards.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and so has Eintracht Frankfurt’s Oumar Marmoush who has 14 goals this season already.

But now it is being reported that a player closer to home could be on Ineos’s list to bolster Amorim’s options across the forward line. This coming in the form of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.

Manchester United want Matheus Cunha

Arguably the best Premier League player not possessed by the big six could be on the move in 2025 and United are planning to be in the running.

Speaking with TBR’s Graeme BaileyUnited in Focus can report that Ineos are taking quite an interest in Wolves.

“Wolves are an interesting team for United, from Cunha to [Rayan] Ait-Nouri to Joao Gomes,” Graeme explained.

“Particularly Cunha is an interesting one as United liked him at Atletico but he’s taken that extra step to settle in England. United definitely like him.”

Cunha joins Ait-Nouri as a target for United, which could be a bargain swoop in June in the event Wolves are relegated.

Cunha has long been a United target

Interest in Cunha is not new, with United linked with a move in the summer. Cunha admitted he was interested in the move.

However, interest goes even further back – with interest back in 2022 when Cunha was still at Atletico Madrid.

Cunha has been endorsed by Antony, while former interim manager Ralf Rangnick has spoken highly of the Wolves forward previously.

It is no shock that interest has been retained in Cunha as the Brazilian boasts seven goals and three assists in just 12 Premier League games this season.

Cunha may be tailormade for the left inside forward role under Amorim. So if he is getting 10 goal contributions in 12 games for relegation-threatened Wolves, for United he could explode into a world-class player.
