Wolves stance on Max Kilman shared by Fabrizio Romano amid West Ham United transfer links

Wolves are yet to decide which members of their squad they will allow to depart amid interest in Max Kilman from West Ham United, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The report via Romano’s Daily Briefing page on 11 May reveals that, though the Hammers have been linked with a move for the centre-back, they and incoming head coach Julen Lopetegui are also yet to discuss transfer targets.

Lopetegui’s time as Wolves boss has increased speculation that the Spaniard will look to raid his old side in the summer transfer window as he prepares to overhaul the Hammers squad.

Would Max Kilman be a good signing for West Ham United?

Kilman, 26, has been a virtual ever-present in the Wolves side this season.

He has played from start to finish in every game across all competitions bar two – he was named on the bench in the 3-2 defeat at Ipswich Town in the League Cup on 26 September and was substituted off after 81 minutes in the 5-0 win over Blackpoor in the previous round of the same competiton – racking up a whopping 3,801 minutes, the most of any Wolves player.

His profile as a left-footed central defender is especially desirable for West Ham – particularly given the question marks over Nayef Aguerd and the fact that Angelo Ogbonna turns 36 later this month.

Kilman is a reliable defender, losing just 0.22 challenges per 90 in the Premier League this season and boasting a 71.8 per cent aerial duel success rate [FBref].

If Wolves are willing to accept a reasonable bid for a player whose contract runs until the summer of 2028, he could prove a smart acquisition indeed for the Hammers.
