Wolves head to Bristol City in the FA Cup this weekend but in the background, Vitor Pereira is conducting business in the January transfer window.
Vitor Pereira is close to confirming his first signing as Wolves have agreed a £15m transfer for Emmanuel Agbadou, the towering Reims centre-back.
The 27-year-old flew over to England to have his medical with Agbadou set to sign a 4.5-year contract at Molineux.
News also broke that Wolves want Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, who could be made available this month after limited game time at Stamford Bridge.
Veiga isn’t the only one linked with a move as plenty of stories have dominated the headlines, and here are the latest transfer snippets coming out of Molineux.
Mario Lemina transfer update
Last week, it emerged that Al Shabab was interested in signing Mario Lemina, whose contract at the club expires in June.
Lemina also issued his desire to leave Wolves, perhaps pointing towards his exit despite then featuring in his side’s loss to Nottingham Forest from the bench.
Now, David Ornstein believes Al Shabab are some way off agreeing a deal for Lemina, who could remain at Wolves beyond January.
“If Mario Lemina moves to the Saudi Pro League then Wolves will look to bring in a new midfielder,” Ornstein said.
Wolves are interested in Vitor Reis
Molineux News broke the news on Wednesday that Wolves are keeping a close eye on Vitor Reis, the 18-year-old centre-back who plays for Palmeiras.
Reis is in high demand from clubs across Europe, with Brighton, Arsenal and Real Madrid all showing an interest in the highly-rated teen.
However, at this stage, competition for his transfer has Wolves’ hierarchy feeling pessimistic about a possible deal, realising that it will be a particularly difficult transfer to pull off currently.
Wolves considering move for Auxerre defender Clement Akpa
Agbadou isn’t the only Ligue 1 defender Pereira is chasing, as it’s been revealed that Wolves are considering a move for Clement Akpa.
Akpa currently plays for French side Auxerre, who took Ki-Jana Hoever on loan for the season in the summer.
Reported interest in the 23-year-old suggests Pereira is looking to sign a left-sided defender to complement the current crop, perhaps providing competition for Toti Gomes.
Wolves target Abdukodir Khusanov closing in on Man City move
Interest in defenders doesn’t stop there though as a fresh update emerged on Abdukodir Khusanov, the defender Wolves were offered by Jorge Mendes.
The 20-year-old, who is currently starring for Lens in Ligue 1, is being courted by a number of top European clubs, including champions Manchester City.
Sadly, Pep Guardiola eyeing a player normally means rival clubs miss out, and that is the case in this instance.
Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed on Wednesday that Man City are advancing in a deal for Khusanov, handing Wolves a blow in this transfer race.
