Celtic star Liel Abada has completed his medical ahead of his £10million move to Charlotte FC and the deal is set to be announced at the start of next week, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that his permanent exit from Parkhead to the MLS outfit is all but done bar the formalities of securing a visa.

The Hoops will receive an initial £8million for the Israel international which could rise to £10million in add-ons.

His departure represents one of the biggest transfer fees Celtic have received in their history.

Celtic could receive up to £10million for Liel Abada

Abada became unsettled at the Glasgow giants due to significant personal issues regarding the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

The 22-year-old penned a new four-year deal with Celtic in September last year, before the escalation of the conflict in his home nation, that would have kept him at the club until 2027.

The Green Brigade, the Celtic’s largest fan group, frequently displayed Palestinian flags during matches despite warnings from the club.

Abada has been absent from the squad for their last four league games, with manager Brendan Rodgers admitting it had been a “challenge” for the forward to produce his best form amid his personal issues.

Across 112 games for the Hoops in all competitions, he scored 29 goals and provided 22 assists.

He won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award in his debut season in 2021-22 and won two league titles during his spell at the club.
